how to download and convert videos from youtube guide
1) copy the video URL from youtube (eg. http://youtube.com/watch?v=DNmpuDPgarU)

2a) if you only want to save the video from youtube – go to keepvid.com
2b) in order to convert youtube video to avi (avi, mov, mp4 for iPod, etc) use vixy.net free website. There, plug in the youtube url, choose the format (avi, mov, mp4, etc) and hit “convert” button (it will take a while & downloads are slow … but it works!)

Hi,
I prefer downloading it as a flv file & read it with vlc.
Previously, I used Downloadhelper (a Firefox extension) to download the flv files.
Now, I’m testing an open source software named Miro, previously called Democracy Player.
It allows researches & of course also downloads from:
- YouTube
- DailyMotion
- Google video
- & a few more I don’t even heard about before.
